Özet
Since density may have a direct influence on permeability, and because density is a factor under genetic control, this study examines the interactions of site, longitudinal fluid uptake and basic wood density. In addition, its variability both within trees and between sites is examined. The vertical variation (from 1 to 3m height) in density and permeability was plotted at defined points.Comparison of changes in basic density and fluid uptake showed that the fluid uptake was directly related to basic density at each height within the tree. Permeability increased with height up the tree.
