Özet
Scar tissue is the final result of wound healing process where the injured area of the skin is replaced by fibrotic tissue. Keloids and hypertrophic scars are caused by excessive fibroproliferation that arise after any cutaneous injury to the skin’s deeper parts involving the dermis. Disseminated keloids and hypertrophic scars may occur and generate a challenging medical condition which cause serious psychological burden in patients due to their cosmetic disfigurement. These lesions may even lead to functional limitations and sometimes intractable pruritus. Herein, systemic medical treatment of cutaneous scars regarding keloids and hypertrophic scars will be reviewed.
