Özet
Positron emission tomography (PET) using F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) has been successfully used in the evaluation of a variety of malignancies. This work reports a 76-year-old man with a history of small cell carcinoma of the parotid gland, a rare tumor. The tumor was surgically resected. A follow-up FDG PET scan revealed marked FDG accumulation in the right neck indicating a metastatic lymph node. This case shows that FDG PET could play an important role in the staging, restaging, and posttherapy follow up of small cell carcinoma of the parotid gland.
