Özet
This study analyses interpersonal conflicts in terms of impoliteness in Sezgin Kaymaz's story 'Have you got a lit, brother?'. The analysis is carried out through the impoliteness maxims by Leech. In the stor, two friends are in conflict with each other as they could not establish an agreement with each other. This conflict is observed as impoliteness through verbal communication. The findings of the study demonstrate that Leech's impoliteness maxims are applicable to Turkish language. In this respect, it is possible to say that impoliteness is a universal fact reflecting society and societal values.
