Abstract
Astrocytomas are the commonest of all primary brain tumors. High grade astrocytomas are the most common subtype of glial tumors which still remains an important cause of morbidity and mortality despite all efforts. Although combination of surgery, radiotherapy, and nitrosurea based chemotherapy regimens is a well accepted treatment modality of these tumors, obtained results are not satisfactory. It seems that, the molecular changes taking place in both tumorogenesis and tumor progression must be well understood to find new treatment modalities which can be used in primary or adjuvant setting.
