Abstract
Throughout the history of humanity, men and women have failed to share equally what the world has to offer and this has had negative impacts on both genders. These differences in gender roles are reflected in state administration, religion, culture, and other aspects of society. In order to promote gender equality and enhance women's status, social awareness about the equitable distribution of gender roles between men and women in the society should be raised. Thus, detection of the thoughts of the society regarding social gender roles should be prioritized (Vefikuluçay Yi{dotless}lmaz et al. 2009, 778). This case study analyses views on gender roles with a focus on marriage, family, and social life. The research has taken place in the central district, Çankaya, located in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. The data was gathered based on a cross sectional survey conducted on a sample size of 515 participants, drawn in the proportion of 331 women and 184 men. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences for Window 15.0 (SPSS 15.0) package software has been used for this data analysis. Findings of the study reveal that within marriage and social life, men have adopted more traditional points of view than the women.
