Abstract

User-centered design is an approach aiming to provide functional solutions by focusing on user needs, expectations, and behaviors. It involves incorporating user experience in the design process to meet these expectations and enhance user satisfaction. This study employs qualitative methods to examine how airport users' expectations can be met through a mobile application, and presents a user-centered interface design. During the research, airport users' expectations were identified through literature review and an analysis of global airport mobile application functions. The demographics of airport passengers derived from the literature were also analyzed. In designing Esenboga Airport's mobile application interface, user-centered processes such as persona creation and task modeling were utilized. To meet the identified expectations, the design process was structured around task models and user journeys. The main findings show that it is possible to meet the user expectations identified through the literature and application analysis, through the functions offered by the mobile application, and that creating personas based on literature data offers advantages in terms of user experience in projects where there is no opportunity to obtain new data such as surveys and observations during the design process. The mobile application interface designed for Esenboga Airport provides a concrete example in this contex.
