Usable menu design using hierarchical clustering analysis: A case study on designing bank internet websites

Abstract

In this study, an application is shown to the user-centered design of internet bank website whose functionality and complexity has been increasing owing to rapidly developing IT technology. Using menu structure in the website of an internet bank is an inevitable situation because of the excessive amount of different banking transactions. An experiment is performed to design those menus user friendly. Data obtained from experiment is analyzed using hierarchical clustering analysis method, and then ideal menu structure for internet bank website is created. Formed ideal menu is compared with the existing websites of banks in addition to advantages of created menu structure are also mentioned.
