Abstract

Humanity has experienced different pandemics throughout history which have altered social, political, and economical life in each era. The 21st century has its own catastrophe, COVID-19 is not an exception but with differences. Today, the world is more interdependent and globalized than ever before, bringing diverse, multidimensional, and complex dynamics and implications. In this respect, the COVID-19 pandemic is not only a health crisis but also a multifaceted social crisis which cannot be solved with a linear approach. This chapter, as the first chapter of the book, is going to analyze COVID-19 with properties of chaos theory. In addition, this chapter functions as an open discussion of the diverse dynamics and implications of COVID-19, introducing upcoming chapters by different authors.
