Abstract

This study aims to examine the mediating role of health empowerment in the relationship between emotion regulation and healthy aging.Predictive correlation research design was carried out with 204 elderly individuals by convenience sampling. Emotion regulation difficulties were found to have a significant negative effect on healthy aging participation (β = -0.483, p = 0.01). Structural equation analysis showed that strengthening the health of elders had a mediating effect on the relationships between emotion regulation difficulties and healthy aging participation. Strengthening the health of elders negatively mediates the relationship between emotion regulation difficulties and engagement in healthy aging (β = -0.059, p = <0.01).The study demonstrates that difficulties in emotion regulation negatively impact healthy ageing, and elders' health empowerment fully mediates this relationship. Fostering health empowerment can counteract the negative effects of emotion regulation, promoting active and healthy ageing.
