Abstract
Pathophysiological mechanisms of the aging process are present in all bodily systems, including the cardiovascular system. There are several risk factors for promotion and prevention of cardiovascular diseases, such as lifestyle and genetics. Targeting pathophysiological pathways of aging may delay cardiovascular aging and prolong human life. This chapter reviews the pathophysiological mechanisms of cardiovascular aging and their association with life expectancy and translates these mechanisms into antiaging therapeutic interventions.
