Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the preservice teachers' adoption process of the applications of QR codes in scope of their perceptions of usefulness and ease of use with an implementation of training on the QR code applications in the educational context. For this aim, a four-week course module was planned. The study group consisted of 65 preservice teachers. Data were gathered by an 18-item adoption scale. Data were analyzed using paired-sample t-test. The study revealed that there emerged a positive change in the perceptions of the participants in regard to the usefulness and ease of use of the QR codes in educational context with a significance value of 0.05. The findings indicated that while the adoption process was investigated through the perception of usefulness and ease of use which have proved to be two basic constructs most scrutinized in relation to the acceptance, adoption and diffusion of the technology, it was also recommended that besides demonstrating the perceptions via self-reports, these perceptions could be improved with appropriate educational activities. Thus, it can be suggested that in those of studies on the adoption of innovations, exemplifying how they can be utilized for the educational purposes can enable the individuals adopt them with much ease.
