Abstract
Quitting smoking is a challenging process, but smoking cessation treatments can help make this process easier. A multimodal approach to smoking cessation is recommended. This includes cognitive and behavioral therapy with close follow-up and pharmacological treatment. The most effective approach to smoking cessation combines pharmacological treatment with behavioral therapy. There is sufficient evidence and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for nicotine replacement therapy, bupropion, and varenicline in pharmacotherapy. Depending on the patient's condition, these medications are prioritized; if necessary, cytisine and second-line medications may also be preferred.
