Re-thinking Health Law and Politics in Turkey: A Dynamic Perspective from the Implementation of the EU Acquis

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Turkey’s long- term relation with the EU is particularly related to the implementation of the EU Acquis (Acquis) and it is inevitable not to consider the EU policy in line with the Acquis in order to frame health law and policy. Whilst national health policy is still at the heart of the discussions before politicians and health professionals, “European Healthcare Union” (EHU) has literally begun to be shaped as a new, divided and independent chapter in European integration. Even though a comprehensive legislation hasn’t been set up, yet, the process is still being encouraged by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) and the European Commission (EC). One the other hand, this process of shaping resulted in a crucial discussion on the Acquis due to the fact that the creation of a single European market has always been the main aim.
