Abstract

Asking whether or not R2P has become a shared responsibility, this Chapter reflects on the gap between growing verbal support for R2P among the Member States of the UN and actual practices in R2P related crises. Accordingly, it aims to assess components of success and failure in R2P implementation based on the case analyses of this edited volume. This Chapter concludes with a discussion on what is required for sustainable protection of populations in a dynamic global governance structure and to turn R2P into a shared responsibility and argues for the value and viability of R2P despite all its imperfections.
