Abstract

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has severely affected orthopedic practice and paralyzed the healthcare system. This review intends to give us, as orthopedic surgeons, the basic facts we need to equip ourselves with to fight this pandemic collectively. This chapter discusses the background, presentation, research investigations, elective surgery guidelines, spread control, and emerging new algorithms regarding COVID-19. It is critical that we remain attentive for the sake of our patients, our families, and ourselves. To avoid suffering from this and future pandemics, humanity must learn from what transpired during the COVID-19 pandemic.
