Abstract

Rapid, reliable, cost-effective, selective and sensitive detection of biomolecules has gained great attention in the preliminary scopes of scientific research groups. Detection, identification, and quantification of potentially threatening microorganisms found in water sources, soil, living organisms are of great interest. Molecular imprinting has been applied as a biomimetic strategy by using a combination of shape and chemical composition on the surface. Besides, the imprinting process has been extensively used due to providing desirable properties to synthesized polymeric structures such as foreseeable, selective, specific and universal stability. Imprinting of microorganisms has been introduced as an alternative approach that has certain positive features as compared to traditional methods, due to its simplicity, low cost preparation with high selectivity and stability. The combination of this technology with transducers has undergone rapid expansion to create functional sensing applications.
