MATLAB/Simulink based restructuring of the first automatic control course in engineering curricula

Abstract

Most engineering schools offer the first Automatic Control course in 6th or 7th semester of the curriculum. The students taking this course have already a background on linear algebra, differential equations and signals & systems. The first Automatic Control course used to cover the same topics yet the style of instruction in this paper is a Matlab based one. The strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats are discussed in the paper.
