N2 - Most engineering schools offer the first Automatic Control course in 6th or 7th semester of the curriculum. The students taking this course have already a background on linear algebra, differential equations and signals & systems. The first Automatic Control course used to cover the same topics yet the style of instruction in this paper is a Matlab based one. The strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats are discussed in the paper.
