Abstract
From a methanol extract of Stachys macrantha, a new iridoid glucoside named macranthoside, six known iridoid glycosides, harpagide, allobetonicoside, ajugol, 8-O-acetyl-harpagide, ajugoside and reptoside have been isolated together with four known phenylpropanoid glycosides, lavandulifolioside, verbascoside, leucosceptoside A and martynoside. The structure of the new compound, macranthoside, has been elucidated on the basis of its chemical and spectral data as 8-O-(3,4-dimethoxy-cinnamoyl)-harpagide.
