Abstract
In the present study, the haemolytic and antibacterial activity of calcium phosphate based sealers named Sankin Apatite type I, II and III were evaluated with respect to other root canal sealers (Express, Endomethasone, Dorifill, CRCS, T. Spad). The haemolytic activity was researched by using human group O erythrocytes and Haemolytic Dose 50 (HD50) titers of each sample was determined. The antibacterial activity on some Gram positive. and negative bacteria was investigated by disc diffusion method by using discs impregnated with the samples. As a result, Sankin Apatite type I, II and III exerted minimal haemolytic activity in low titers and showed no antibacterial effect on the tested bacteria. It is concluded that Sankin Apatite types that have better biologic properties compared with the other root canal sealers can be used practically in dental medicine.
