Faunistic and Systematic Studies of Prioninae and Spondylidinae (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) in the Aegean Region

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The current study, which is part of a project on the Cerambycidae fauna of the Aegean Region (covering the provinces of Afyonkarahisar, Aydin, Denizli, Izmir, Kutahya, Manisa, Mugla, Usak, and the southern part of Balikesir), focused on Prioninae and Spondylidinae species collected between 2019 and 2022. A total of seven species were identified. In addition to documenting the regional fauna, data on the number of individuals, collection altitudes, and collection months were recorded and analyzed comparatively. Furthermore, the male genitalia of Ergates faber (Linnaeus, 1761) and Callergates gaillardoti (Chevrolat, 1854), as well as the female spermathecae of Arhopalus ferus (Mulsant, 1839) and Spondylis buprestoides (Linnaeus, 1758), are described and illustrated here for the first time. Notably, Ergates faber is reported for the first time from the Aegean Region. Additionally, new locality records for previously reported species-Callergates gaillardoti, Prionus coriarius, Mesoprionus besikanus, Arhopalus rusticus, and Spondylis buprestoides-enhance the biodiversity data of Turkiye.
